June Menu: The Duke & Eight More

In March we lost Chris' dad, Jim. He was the kind of guy who picked favorites and stuck with them — and two of his favorites were our chocolate flavors, Hey You Guys! and There's a Turtle in My Brownie. The last thing he ever ate was a few bites of Caramel Apple Pie we'd sent out to him a couple weeks earlier.

Jim was also, quite possibly, the world's biggest John Wayne fan. (Chris carries a John Wayne quote tattooed on his forearm to prove it runs in the family.) So when we started working on a flavor in his honor, the through-line wrote itself: chocolate, because Jim, and John Wayne, because Jim.

June's featured flavor: The Duke.

It's a light chocolate cake batter ice cream with a pour of Wild Turkey 101 — the Duke's bourbon of choice — and a cream cheese frosting swirl folded through. The whiskey leads, the cake plays backup. We're pretty happy with how this one turned out, and we're glad we get to put it in the freezer with his name on it.

The Duke is leading a June lineup with some range — four flavors you voted in, a couple returning favorites, and two new pours in the Hold the Cow case (one of those a fan vote too — y'all came through this month).

Joining The Duke this month

Sometimes menu:

  • Rise & Shine Cold Brew Chip (fan voted) — earthy, rich cold brew with dark chocolate chunks, a collab with our friend Jaclyn James's coffee line.
  • Midnight Munchies (fan voted) — pretzel-infused base folded with butter-toasted pretzels, chips, and Ritz, finished with a salted caramel swirl.
  • Circus Cookies — cake batter ice cream with those little frosting-covered animal crackers folded in.
  • Maybe Better Than a Brookie — light caramel base, chunks of chocolate chip cookies and fudge brownies, fudge swirl.
  • Smashed Snickers (fan voted) — fluffy nougat base with salted caramel, fudge brownies, peanuts, and chocolate chips.
  • Grilled Pineapple (fan voted) — cinnamon pineapple ice cream with chunks of pineapple. Like the real thing, just.....frozen.
  • Romeo & Juliet (fan voted) — cream cheese ice cream with a sweet guava swirl, from Sarah's childhood in Brazil.

Hold the Cow:

  • Chocolate Peanut Butter — our oatmilk base with rich chocolate and creamy peanut butter. Fully vegan.
  • Piña Colada (fan voted) — coconut, pineapple, and a nip of rum. Fully vegan.

A note on timing

The new flavors trickle into the freezer over the first few days of the month — handcrafting and freezing nine new batches isn't an overnight job. If you're driving in for something specific, check the current flavors page before you head over so you don't miss it.
