How we ship

Frozen solid. Every time. Or it's free.

Shipping ice cream sounds risky until you do it a bunch. We've been doing it since 2021, with a really good track record. Every order gets packed in a thick-walled insulated package, surrounded by enough dry ice to keep things below 0°F — even if your UPS driver runs an hour late.

We only ship Monday through Thursday so nothing sits in a transit hub over the weekend. We use UPS or FedEx overnight, never ground. And if you live somewhere brutal (looking at you, Florida in August), we'll add extra dry ice automatically — no upcharge.

If your order arrives soft, melted, or anything other than scoop-ready, send us a photo and we'll replace the entire pack. No questions. No itemized receipts. We'd rather lose a few packs than lose your trust.

Common questions

Shipping ice cream, answered.

Everything we get asked about delivery, packaging, and what happens if something goes sideways.

How do you ship ice cream without it melting?

We pack every order in an insulated package with enough dry ice to hold below 0°F past the overnight transit window. We ship overnight to all 48 contiguous states, Monday through Thursday only, so packages never sit over a weekend.

Where do you ship?

All 48 contiguous United States. We can't currently ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, PO boxes, or APO/FPO addresses — the transit times are too long to guarantee frozen arrival.

How much does shipping cost?

We do everything we can to keep shipping costs as low as possible, but the fact is shipping overnight with dry ice can be costly. Rates can range from $35-$75 depending on your location.

What happens if my ice cream arrives melted?

We replace the entire order, full stop. Send us a photo within 24 hours of delivery and we'll ship a replacement pack at no charge. We don't ask for receipts or send forms — just a photo.

Can I send ice cream as a gift?

Yes — every product on this page can be shipped to a different address than the buyer's. For corporate gifts to multiple addresses, contact us for a custom quote.

How long does shipped ice cream last in dry ice?

Our packages keep pints frozen well past the overnight transit window from the moment they leave our kitchen. Once the box arrives at your door, you should move the pints to your freezer within an hour or two for best texture. The dry ice will sublimate (turn to vapor) on its own — just open the box outside or in a ventilated room.

Is dry ice safe to handle?

Yes, with one rule: don't touch it with bare skin (use gloves or a towel) and don't seal it in an airtight container. Once you've moved your pints to the freezer, you can let the leftover dry ice sublimate on its own — just place the cooler somewhere ventilated, like a garage or porch.

Do you ship dairy-free ice cream too?

Absolutely. Our Hold the Cow line ships in the same packs and at the same prices. You can mix dairy and dairy-free pints in any pack.

Do you offer ice cream subscriptions?

Not yet — we may add a Pint Club subscription down the road. In the meantime, you can build a fresh 6-pack any time and ship it to yourself or someone else.

Can I order ice cream for a corporate event or as a client gift?

Yes — we ship to multiple addresses from a single order, can include custom-branded cards, and offer volume pricing on packs of 25 or more. Request a corporate gifting quote and we'll get back to you.

What's the cutoff time to ship this week?

We ship Monday through Thursday. You can clearly see your arrival time when building your 6-pack.

Where is the ice cream actually made?

Every pint is handcrafted in our San Marcos, California kitchen — the same place we scoop from in our shops. Made by hand, hand-packed for shipping, and on its way to.
